HEALTH & SAFETY:
Before traveling to Nepal, it is recommended to consult your doctor regarding your general health and fitness for high-altitude trekking. While no specific vaccinations are required for most visitors, staying up to date with routine immunizations and seeking personal medical advice is advisable. Carry a personal first-aid kit with any essential medications, as medical facilities along the Manaslu Circuit are basic and limited. If you wear prescription glasses or rely on regular medication, bring spare supplies. Maintaining good physical fitness, eating nutritious meals, staying hydrated, and following your guide's instructions will help ensure a safe and rewarding trekking experience.
ALTITUDE & ACCLIMATIZATION:
The Manaslu Circuit Trek reaches an elevation of 5,106 meters (16,752 ft) at Larkya La Pass, making altitude acclimatization a critical part of the journey. Symptoms of Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), such as headache, dizziness, fatigue, nausea, and difficulty sleeping, may occur above 2,500 meters. Our itinerary is carefully designed with gradual elevation gain and an acclimatization day in Samagaun to help your body adjust naturally. Drink 2–4 liters of water daily, avoid alcohol, walk at a steady pace, and communicate openly with your guide if you experience any symptoms. If symptoms become severe, descending to a lower altitude is the safest and most effective treatment.
WEATHER & CONDITIONS:
The Manaslu region experiences diverse weather conditions depending on altitude and season. Lower valleys are generally mild and forested, while higher elevations become colder, drier, and windier. Weather can change rapidly, particularly near Larkya La Pass, where snowfall and strong winds are possible even during the main trekking seasons. Daytime temperatures are often comfortable for hiking, but mornings and evenings can be very cold at higher altitudes. Dressing in layers allows you to adjust easily to changing temperatures and remain comfortable throughout the trek.
PACKING:
Packing wisely is essential for a comfortable trek. Bring lightweight but warm clothing, including thermal base layers, a down jacket, trekking pants, gloves, a warm hat, and a waterproof jacket and trousers. Sturdy, well-broken-in trekking boots are essential, along with comfortable shoes or sandals for evenings at the teahouses. Avoid packing unnecessary heavy items or electronics. A power bank is highly recommended since charging facilities are limited and often available for an additional fee. Porter luggage is generally limited to 15 kg (33 lbs) per person, so pack efficiently.
DAYPACK ESSENTIALS:
Carry a comfortable daypack with your daily necessities, including a reusable water bottle or hydration system, sunscreen, sunglasses, snacks, a camera, rain gear, and an extra warm layer. Personal medications, toiletries, valuables, passports, permits, and travel documents should always remain with you. Keeping your daypack organized and lightweight will make each day's trek more enjoyable.
EMERGENCY SUPPORT:
Our experienced trekking guides are trained in first aid and carry a basic medical kit throughout the trek. Comprehensive travel insurance covering high-altitude trekking and emergency helicopter evacuation is mandatory for all participants. In the event of a serious illness, injury, or altitude-related emergency, evacuation to Kathmandu can be arranged as quickly as weather conditions permit, ensuring your safety remains the highest priority throughout the journey.
